In marine zones, a greater level of isolation from the external environment is required to prevent salt-laden air from contacting the steel frame. BlueScope’s Technical Bulletin TB34 defines 3 levels of marine severity and describes methods of isolating the frame depending on the level of marine severity. Bluescope’s interpretations of marine zone classifications are set out in Technical Bulletin TB35.
In addition, NASH standards provide additional guidance on durability of building components within marine environments.
